Reward Canine - Dog Selection Packages
A dog is a friend for life. However, many people don’t take the time upfront to make sure that they get a dog that suits their lifestyle, and end up having lifelong problems with their dog, such as barking, destructive chewing, digging, escaping, hyperactivity and aggression. Don’t fall into this trap- only a happy and contented dog gives you the many years of pleasure, love and companion ship that most dog owners find so important. Let Reward Canine help you find that special dog!
Reward Canine offers 4 different packages to help you find your ideal dog. These are listed below:
Basic Breed Selection Package (available Australia wide)
The client will receive a detailed questionnaire discussing most aspects of the environment and the people the dog will be around. Following completion the questionnaire will be returned to Reward Canine who will:
-
Suggest breeds – Reward Canine will suggest a number of breeds (or in some cases cross breeds) that are deemed suitable to your lifestyle, requirements, environment, personality type and expectations. Each of these breeds will be described in terms of temperament, trainability and looks.
- Provide guidance regarding age and sex of dog – Reward Canine will provide guidance in regards to the age and sex of the dog. When young children are involved we will generally suggest you get a young puppy.
- Provide information on how to find the dog – Reward Canine will provide a list of breeders (if purebred) or shelters (if cross breed) from where the dog can be obtained. Please note that most reputable breeders have only a few litters a year so a waiting period may apply.
- Provide high-level information on hereditary diseases – Reward Canine will provide a list of hereditary diseases specific to the recommended breeds. Many breeds suffer from severe hereditary disease so it is always worthwhile to check whether the parents have been tested for having a particular disease. Please note that it is not possible to check for all hereditary diseases. We always recommend having your new dog examined by a qualified veterinarian to determine the health of your dog. Make sure you can return the dog (within the first couple of days) should the vet identify a serious health problem.

Breed Selection Plus Package (available for Victoria only)
All the tasks described under 'Breed Selection Package' will be carried out. In addition this package includes the following:
Finding the actual dog:
- For purebred puppies - Reward Canine will find a breeder with a current/planned litter and review any information on the parents' test results for hereditary diseases (if available). Reward Canine will have the client listed to receive a puppy from a reputable breeder. If client wishes Reward Canine to view the actual litter, perform puppy testing and select a puppy from the litter this can be done at an additional cost.
- For purebred adult - Reward Canine will contact the breed club and any rescue organisations available for that particular breed. Reward Canine will also through our contacts at the shelters ensure to be notified should a dog of the desired breed be handed in.
- For crossbreeds - Reward Canine works closely with a number of shelters in Victoria and we will therefore be able to identify any dogs/puppies that fulfills your requirements. Due to the unpredictability as to which dogs are handed in at the shelters we limit our search for your perfect dog to a 3-month period.
